About 17 Sunflower Lane

From Crafting to Boutique

Dear Visitor, you may be asking yourself: what is the question most often asked about this shop? Alright, you probably are not asking yourself that and most likely could not care less, but I find it interesting and you're free to click away at any point, so I'll answer it.

What is the question most often asked about this shop? Well, it's not about shipping, or custom work, or our processes. No, the question asked most is, "Do you live on Sunflower Lane?"

The answer, unfortunately, is no.

(I wish it were yes.)

The follow up question is then "Where does the 17 come from?"

The answer to that is simply that when I started this shop on Etsy, just plain Sunflower Lane was already taken by another shop, so I needed a number; I was too attached to Sunflower Lane to fully change the name, and so chose 17 as a reference to one of my most beloved movies of all time, Mary Poppins.

Lastly, I am often asked if sunflowers are, in fact, my favorite flower; or rather, people say, "Sunflowers must be your favorite flower!"

Funnily enough, the answer again is no. I do adore sunflowers, and would gladly say they're my second favorite flowers, but my favorite flowers are actually peonies.

However, "17 Peony Lane" just...doesn't quite have the right ring to it for me.

Following that is when I am asked about shipping or custom work or processes. I won't bore you with those answers here, though - if you want to know, you're more than welcome to look at our shipping and FAQ pages. Instead, the last things you'll find here are a short personal bio and a blurb about the shop's creation.

(Eagle eye visitors may notice striking similarities in this blurb and the one that can be found on the home page of this site, but alas, what can I say? There's quite a lot of website, and I'm only one person here.)

17 Sunflower Lane started as a small passion project by an artisan searching for an outlet and has grown over the past few years into a full online boutique!

All products here are homemade by me, Hannah Snow. My goal is to put my love of crafts and relentless dedication to creating high-quality products into everything I create; from napkins, towels, and keychains embroidered on a home embroidery machine and homemade pillows, to hand-stamped metal jewelry and prints of photography I've taken around Northern Michigan.

Hannah Snow, Owner/Artisan
Hannah is a Michigan native who has lived here all her life, born and raised in Kalamazoo before moving to Detroit, and is now settled in the beautiful little town of Marshall.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from Wayne State University, having graduated summa cum laude in 2018 at the age of 19 (her parents are very proud).
She has been a crafter, creator, and artisan for most of her life, hopping from project to project and medium to medium; if something can be created, then she must try to create it. Eventually, she settled on embroidery and metal stamping as her primary mediums on which to build a business, though she is also a dedicated sewist who loves creating clothes, items, and decor for herself and friends/family.
In her free time, she loves working on theatrical productions with the
love of her life, her fiance Cam; and spending far too much time obsessing over Disney and Star Wars.
